Tom Conroy graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1971 and earned his Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law in 1974.
Following his admission to The Florida Bar in 1974, Tom devoted his legal career to the defense of workers’ compensation claims. He began his career as house counsel for a major insurance company and later served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Miami. During his time with the City of Miami, he developed significant experience addressing the unique legal issues facing municipalities and self-insured entities.
In 1979, Tom and Bruce Simberg founded Conroy & Simberg, P.A. Tom continued to focus his practice on workers’ compensation defense and became Board Certified in Workers’ Compensation Law in 1988, when the certification was first offered by The Florida Bar.
Throughout his career, Tom received numerous professional recognitions. From 2004 through 2007, the South Florida Legal Guide recognized him as one of South Florida’s leading attorneys, and he was also recognized as a Florida Super Lawyer.
Tom was a member of the American Bar Association, Dade County Bar Association, Broward County Bar Association, Palm Beach County Bar Association, and Defense Research Institute. He also served on the Workers’ Compensation Executive Council, including as its chair from August 2006 through August 2007. In addition, he served as both a trustee and president of the Friends of 440 Scholarship Fund.
