With state and local restrictions lifting, many business owners are making the decision to reopen their doors to remain financially stable, even as they evaluate the risks of providing services for clients during a pandemic. Knowing the dangers of the coronavirus, owners must do everything they can to protect their businesses, which may include asking customers to sign a COVID-19 liability waiver prior to services being rendered. 

Yesterday, the Third District Court of Appeal issued an important opinion relating to the discovery of cellphone information.  In Aguila v. Frederic, 45 Fla. L. Weekly D2043 (Fla. 3d DCA, Aug. 26, 2020), the appellate court quashed a trial court order compelling disclosure of discovery relating to a civil defendant’s possession and use of his mobile phone during a crash that gave rise to wrongful death litigation.  

The jury selection portion of the Miami-Dade Courts’ Virtual Jury Trial Pilot will commence on Thursday, July 9th. Jurors will appear in a Virtual Courtroom via Zoom.
